Working closely with Historic Environment Scotland, this extensive restoration project of a stunning Grade B listed, Robert Adam-designed Georgian mansion took 18 months to complete. This beautiful home set over 3 floors, with magnificent reception rooms, three cupolas, a circular entrance hall and the most beautiful detailing throughout was rotting from the inside out. The preservation of the house was integral, which meant removing every floorboard and wall, and replacing the timbers behind them, then reinstating the lath and plaster. The wing rooms had deep cornicing and reliefs which needed hand restoring due to damp, and we even discovered a Roman fort outside whilst digging the electrical cabling which brought a team of archaeologists to site. We designed an ambitious lighting scheme for the whole property, installed new plumbing, new flooring, heating, new lead roofs and a new cupola. Finally, we completed decorative schemes for each of the 30 rooms. This home was featured on the front cover of Homes & Interiors Scotland, in the FT, and the Times amongst other publications.
